To promote and encourage a professional and supportive environment in which our members can excel.
The purpose of the Westmoreland Professional Builders Association is to encourage and promote home building and renovations, to build member relationships, to enhance professionalism, and to maintain a charitable giving program that supports this purpose.
WPBA Charitable Programs have included but are not limited to the following: A College Scholarship for WPBA members, Tool Scholarships for Vocational students, and Habitat for Humanity Projects combined with a Mentoring Program for Students.
Code of Ethics
Members of this Association believe and affirm that:
— Home ownership can and should be within the reach of every American family.
— Homes should be well designed and constructed.
To achieve these goals we pledge allegiance to the following principles and policies:
— Our paramount responsibility is to our customers, our community, and our country.
— Members shall deal fairly with their employees, subcontractors, and suppliers.
— Honesty is our guiding business policy.
— High standards of health, safety, and sanitation shall be rebuilt into every home.
— As members of a progressive industry, we encourage research to develop new materials, new building techniques, new building equipment and improved methods of home financing, to the end that every home purchaser may get the greatest value possible for every dollar.
— All sound legislative proposals affecting our industry and the people we serve shall have our informed and vigorous support.
— We hold inviolate the free enterprise system and the American way of life.
— We pledge our support to our associates, our local association, and all related industries concerned with the preservation of legitimate rights and freedoms
— We assure these responsibilities freely and solemnly, mindful that they are a part of our obligation as members of the Westmoreland Professional Builders Association.
The WPBA Home Show
The Builders Showcase is an excellent opportunity for members to promote building and development in Westmoreland County. WPBA builder and developer members Showcase their products whether it be a single family home or an entire development. Some examples of how the Association promotes the Home Show are through Radio Ads, Newspaper Ads, Bill Billboards, Yard Signs, Flyers, Social Media, and the WPBA website. Tis is definitely something you won’t want to miss!
Membership Meeting Sponsorship
Membership Meeting Sponsorship allows you to advertise your business by sponsoring one of the general membership meetings held during the year. This is a great way for your company to talk with members one on one, discuss your products and promote your business. Your company will be listed on the WPBA website, in the newsletter and on the meeting flyers & programs.
General Membership Meetings / Networking Nights
General Membership Meetings or Networking Nights are held 5 times a year (Jan, March, May, Sept, & Nov). These meetings are an excellent way for members to network with each other in a relaxed atmosphere. The General Meetings consists of cocktails, buffet dinner and a featured guest speaker. Networking Nights provide a more casual atmosphere with cash bar and appetizers. Advanced reservation is required.
A Free PA One Call Membership
A Free PA One Call Membership. According to PA Act 187 of 1996, “Before you Dig” notification is required at least three working days prior to disturbing the earth with any type of power equipment. There is an annual fee to use this service, but as a WPBA member, the Association will pay it for you! All you need to do is email or USPS mail your PA One Call invoice to the WPBA office.
The Governmental Affairs Committee
The Governmental Affairs Committee is actively working to stay on top of current issues and legislation that will affect the building industry in Westmoreland County. The purpose of this committee is to research codes, ordinances, and proposed legislation and work with the local or state officials to ensure a positive result for building & development in this area. The success of this action committee depends heavily on member involvement. As issues arise, its important that members notify the office.
The Education Committee
The Education Committee is designed to work hand-in-hand with the Governmental Affairs committee. When a new code, ordinance, or law goes into effect, WPBA informs members on how it will apply to the building industry in Westmoreland County. If it requires training, WPBA will offer educational opportunities for members. WPBA has teamed with Professional Training Associates, Inc. and PHRC (Pennsylvania Housing Research Center) to provide education on topics that affect the Building Industry.
WPBA Membership Directory
WPBA Membership Directory is distributed once a year, and the information is also available on the website. The Directory contains contact information about each member—so the next time you’re looking for a subcontractor, a lender, a supplier, etc. make sure you call a fellow member first!
Six WPBA Newsletters
Six WPBA Newsletters per year including articles, photos, new member announcements and more to keep you informed on what’s happening within the Association. The newsletter also offers low cost advertising opportunities for you and your company.
WPBA Website has been redesigned to better serve our members and the general public. As a membership benefit, your company name, address, telephone number and email address will be listed on the Association site. You also have the opportunity to purchase a direct link to your company’s website for a one time charge of $25.00. This enables the consumer to quickly connect with your company from the WPBA website. In today’s high tech/web based business environment, this can prove to be a valuable asset for your company.
Golf Outings, Clay Shoots, Night at the Races. Etc.
The WPBA organizes events during the year designed to raise money to benefit charitable projects. The events are jam packed with good food, great prizes, and tons of fun for everyone!
The Charitable Committee sponsors various scholarships, awards, and donations to the community of Westmoreland County. The Westmoreland Professional Builders Association maintains a charitable giving program that supports,encourages and promotes, home building, renovations, member relationships, and the enhancement of professionalism throughout the building industry.
